Highlights include the unexcavated ruins of the original Fort William Henry and the Indian Fountain, a recently restore statue by A. Phimister Proctor of a warrior kneeling for a drink of water, originally erected in 1921.

Head to the heart of the Adirondacks for an unspoiled view of nature, where you can picnic and relax while gazing at the natural forest that makes up the High Peaks. Barbecues and picnic tables are set up on the sloping lawn, plus convenient restrooms.

Island Picnics

Rent a picnic spot on one of the many islands that dot Lake George (the modest fee goes to New York State for upkeep). Choose from Speaker Heck, Diamond, Sarah & Hazel, or Black Mountain Point. Usher’s Park

Lake George, NY

This well-maintained idyll on the east side of Lake George is popular but never crowded. There are plenty of picnic tables and charcoal barbecue grills (call 518 668 5722 to reserve your spot), as well as a playground and tennis, basketball, and shuffleboard courts (groundskeepers can supply sports equipment). Just down the hill is a small sandy beach.
