Chateaugay Lake has rainbow trout, landlocked salmon, black bass, and northern pike. Lake Colby contains kokanne salmon, brown trout, and rainbow trout. Meacham Lake has black bass, northern pike, panfish, and splake. In Saranac Lake you’ll find black bass, northern pike, and panfish. Tupper Lake has black bass, walleye, lake trout, landlocked salmon, northern pike, and panfish.
The west branch of the Ausable River is the state’s top trout stream. The cold water in the north branch of Saranac River also offers a variety of trout. Find fine brookie and brown trout in the headwaters of the Hudson, both above and below Newcomb.
Boquet River boasts brown, brook, and rainbow trout as well as rock bass. Raquette River has brown and brook trout, smallmouth bass, black bass, and walleye. In the St. Regis River, angle for brown, brook, and rainbow trout.
Cast about in these spots along the 32-mile lake: Glenburne, Hague, North Basin, Hulett’s Landing, The Narrows, Bolton Landing, and Cleverdale. For best success, read these fishing tips from the Lake George Association.
